The Client Price tag Index [CPI] rose to .6{cbf6da10fac2230370cea9448ed9872290737d25c88b8c8db3eefaf8c399e33d} in December, up from .three{cbf6da10fac2230370cea9448ed9872290737d25c88b8c8db3eefaf8c399e33d} in November.

ONS deputy countrywide statistician for economic data, Jonathan Athow, reported: “Apparel charges place upward stress on inflation in December, regardless of some evidence of continued discounting.

“Transportation costs, like air, sea and mentor fares, as well as petrol charges, rose as some journey limits eased through components of the month.

“These were partially offset by slipping food stuff charges, most notably for greens and meat.”
